I started this blog as an output for all the random thoughts, feelings, opinions, etc. that I had during a day. I tend to be a long winded person and I also tend to like an argument for argument sake. It helps us understand how each other think; if people could learn how to argue topics effectively we’d understand a lot more about each other. I’m a pretty normal guy with a few eccentricities. If you care to know more about how normal I am, read on. If you’d like to just read about how un-normal I am, read the posts via the main page.
My interests include a wide variety of things; as do most humans (I hope?).
You can find an itemized list of them (I like the color blue, walks on beaches are just “meh”…) in the following annoyingly over generalized categories: cigars, whiskey, coffee, sports (Cubs, Hawks, Bears), movies, reading, writing, music, and most hedonistic/materialistic worldly things. Coincidentally, I also have a small yet healthy obsession with technology, gaming, cell phones, and cars.
I like making observations. I enjoy too many things. I love a good random chat. I have an uncanny ability to attract odd people (like a sociopath magnet). I find it hard to not be happy despite whatever the circumstances. I collect hobbies. I hate wearing gym shoes, unless they’re Converse All-Stars. I refuse to own a back-pack. My pocket knife is quite possibly my most versatile possession other than my cell phone. I am an Android user and a Google fan-boy. I am a firearms enthusiast and consider myself a moderate in regards to gun-control and applicable laws. I am engaged to a redhead and love every minute of it.
Specific Manly Things I Like:
Whiskey and Whisky. As for bourbons I like, on the cheap, Very Old Barton or Heaven Hill Deluxe is top notch. If I’m going above run of the mill stuff like Knob Creek, I’ll take Eagle Rare. If I really want something big I’ll take George T. Stagg. Scotch-wise I’m a bit simpler, sticking with The Balvenie Double Wood on most occasions.
Cigars. I tend to go for medium to medium-full bodied cigars with spice. Nicaraguan and Honduran tobacco tends to pique my interest more than Dominican. I’m not opposed to smoking a Habano, and when I have the choice, I usually will pick a Juan Lopez #2 or a Bolivar Royal Corona. I’m a fan of the Montecristo #4 as well.
Beer. I’ve become less and less of a casual beer drinker and have become more involved with finding a good session beer. There’s a Pilsner at a local place called Haymarket Pub & Brewery that I’ve enjoyed a lot lately. I was on the hops bandwagon several years ago and have since bailed on it all together for most choices that are heavier on the malt.
